Week 1-Screen Shots

Screenshots are a useful way to take a snapshot of your screen to share information with others.
I tried out two screen capture tools, print screen on my computer and Jing.

Both Windows and Macs have built in screen capture systems. For Windows, pressing ctrl+PrntScr will capture an image that can be pasted into a file. The print screen option captures everything on your screen, which can be helpful when you need to capture a drop down folder.

Jing is a free, downloadable program that captures images and videos of your screen. When capturing with Jing, crosshairs appear, which allow you to select the section of the screen you wish to caputre. However, because you have to select Jing on the top of the screen, it can be difficult to impossible to capture drop down menus. Jing offers the option to copy or save the image.

Overall, I prefer Jing for its versatile use. I rarely want to capture my entire screen. I also enjoy being able to copy and save the image without needing to open another program.
